A Bad Night

After a long night of Cohen being lethargic, not eating much, then throwing some two-year-old-worthy tantrums when trying to put him to bed, I knew he wasn't feeling well.  I held him in my arms until he fell asleep, which was about 30 seconds, then just cuddled him.  He kept shivering and breathing really shallow, so I started to get a little worried.

Joe got home from working with his brother a couple of hours later, around 9:00.  I had him get some tylenol then we took his temperature.  The first time read 104.3, the second time read 104.7, so we decided to take him to the ER.  I knew once the Tylenol fully kicked in it would go down, but we just didn't want to take any chances.

After being told it was teething (Really? Shallow breathing, shivering and almost 105 temp?), then that it was probably an ear infection, we were on our way home with instructions to keep his fever down with tylenol, and a prescription for some antibiotics.  It was pretty frustrating to pay an arm and a leg for a Dr to tell me it's probably his ears, but I guess that's how it goes in the ER.  We're just grateful it was nothing serious and that we have Cohen home and feeling better.
