Lately

We've finally been getting back into somewhat of a routine at our house (by somewhat I mean I'm finding time to shower every day {before 8:00 at night}, and - most of the time - feeding my family actual food).  Elliot is now two and a half weeks old, Cohen loves her to pieces (the in-your-face, wants to hold and kiss and poke all. the. time. kind of love), and Joe completed his first full week of work (and probably could not have been more excited about it - his final words his last day home were, "I don't know how moms do it.  I really don't."  Neither do I, Joe.  We just do.

It has been snowing for three days now, and our backyard has at least a foot and a half of snow on the ground.  And it's still coming down.  I love the first big snow almost as much as the first day over 70 degrees in the spring.  Almost.

Also, Cohen has been Mr. Nuturer.  He carries around his animals all day - hugging them and patting their little backs.  Yesterday, I went in to check on him after I put him down for his nap, and he had his pillow on the floor, ALL of his animals lined up on the pillow, and was carefully covering them all with his blanket.  I continued spying for a few minutes as he continued tucking them in by kissing them all, then folding his arms and saying a prayer with them (the only audible words were daddy, please, and amen).  He gave them a few more kisses and pats on the head and ended his ritual by yelling, "goodnight!".

And last, but not least, I finally understand why moms are always filled with such excitement when both of their kids are napping at the same time.  Mine are both sound asleep at 11:30 am, and I am on the computer typing this.  I should be doing laundry, showering, making lunch, cleaning up toys, or washing bottles.  But I'm not, and it feels oh-so-good!
